There is no cure for autism. Early Intervention prior to age 3 can make an enormous difference for a child with Autism. It is so important to know the signs!!
- Not pointing at objects to show interest
- Will not look at objects when another points at them
- Has trouble relating to others or has no interest in others at all
- Avoids eye contact and wants to be alone
- Has trouble understanding other people’s feelings or talking about their own feelings
- Prefer not to be held or cuddled
- Appears to be unaware when people talk to them, but respond to other sounds
- Interested in other people, but do not know how to talk, play or relate to them
- Repeat or echo words or phrases or repeat words or phrases in place of normal language
- Will not play “pretend” games
- Repeat actions over and over again
- Has trouble adapting to changes in routine
- Has unusual reactions to how things smell, taste, look, feel or sound
- Loses skills they once had, such as words they had been using
- Lines objects up in rows
- Hand flapping
